Following Latin American week, our journey around the globe continued with a deep and delightful dive into Central Asia, focusing on the cultures of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. This week was full of hands-on creativity, cultural learning, and community connections that brought the regionās traditions to life for our students.
Hereās a glimpse into our Central Asian adventure:
In the kitchen, we made Kyrgyz plov, a traditional rice dish cooked with meat, carrots, garlic, chickpeas, spices, and even raisins! The delicious aroma filled our classrooms, and the kids loved helping prepare and taste this comforting dish.

Our students also built and decorated their own yurts, traditional round dwellings used by nomadic families in Central Asia. They learned how people live, travel, and gather in these special homes.

Children got crafty making Komuz instruments, inspired by the traditional Kyrgyz string instrument, and enjoyed musical play with rhythms and sounds from the region.

For an extra-special experience, we took a local field trip, where children had the opportunity to learn from Kyrgyz instructors right in our neighborhood. They showed us how to prepare samsa, a flaky savory pastry, and taught us traditional dance steps! The joy and excitement on the kidsā faces said it all.

This week was a celebration not only of a unique and beautiful region of the world, but also of the diversity and cultural richness in our own daycare community. Thank you to all the families who contributed photos, decorations, and artifacts to help make this experience unforgettable!
