This June, we kicked off our Culture Unit with an exciting deep dive into Latin American cultures! At Blooming Bud Daycare, we are proud to reflect the rich heritages of our families, and this week gave our students a chance to explore and celebrate Latino and Hispanic traditions from countries such as Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador, and Colombia.
Throughout the week, children explored:
Traditional foods, including making Honduran enchiladas and El Salvadoran pupusas right in the classroom! With fresh ingredients and kid-friendly steps, our little chefs were thrilled to get hands-on and taste the delicious results.

Customs and celebrations, such as creating and breaking their very own classroom piñatas, filled with candy and joy. This was definitely a highlight of the week and brought a lot of smiles and laughter. In the classroom, we also had salsa and merengue dancing lessons, and let the kids listen to traditional music.

Cultural symbols, including flags, music, language, and storytelling. Thanks to the amazing contributions from our families, students also got to see and touch traditional clothing, instruments, and family photos that reflected the cultural pride in our community.
We were overjoyed to see how curious and engaged the children were. They were asking questions, trying new flavors, and dancing to music from across Latin America. A big thank you to our families who shared items, photos, and memories from home. These contributions helped bring the experience to life and reminded us all how powerful culture is in shaping who we are.
